Blended learning is an
approach to learning and teaching face to face with combination online and
technology, By John and Pegler.
Background
The
computer will take over everywhere from the operation of thinking, leaving the
brain to lie fallow, as the mechanistic technologies of the 19 century have
already done with the body.
Characteristics
of MBL
1. Program Type (What is
the overall goal of the program—enhancing skills and competencies, providing
information to a large audience, etc.?)
2. Cultural Goals (Are
there additional sub goals that the program wants to accomplish, such as
building relationships or communicating shared values?)
3. Audience (This includes
factors such as size of the audience, comfort with and access to technology,
motivation, and time availability)
4. Budget (What are the
available fiscal resources for development and delivery?)
5. Resources (What are the
staff resources available, and do they have the expertise necessary for certain
types of distance education? Are subject-matter experts available)
6. Time (How much time
before the education is needed, how much time can learners spend away from
their job, and are there completion deadlines?)
7. Learning Content (This
is the heart of the program—how complex is the content; does it need to include
a lot of interactivity in the design [see Instructional Activities Matrix], can
it be broken up in segments?)
8. Technology (What
technology infrastructure is available, are there equipment and/or training
needs of the learners, bandwidth issues, security concerns, etc.?)
Advantage
of MBL
Classroom: is good for workshops,
coaching, exercises feedback on activities and paper-based tests.
Self-paced
e-learning:
is good for simulations, online case studies, interactive learning modules,
e-mail, bulletin boards interactions, online assessments, and other forms of
CBT (computer based training).
Live
e-Learning is
good for application exercises, online coaching, interaction between students,
online feedback, assessment, chats and instant messaging.
Disadvantage of MBL
The technology of media
various
The facilitate which have
students is limited
The less knowledge which
the society get to use of technology
Not all the students have
computer
conclusion
The goal of a blended
approach is to join the best aspects of both face to face and online
instruction. Classroom time can be used to engage students in advanced
interactive experiences.
